Few days after signing another female to Mavin Records, Don Jazzy has signed yet another new member to the crew — Reekado Banks.
Don Jazzy announced Reekado Banks in a series of tweets including the young man’s first official single, “Turn it up” featuring Tiwa Savage.

The Acting Central Bank Governor, Dr Sarah Alade, has assured stakeholders that the recent changes in the apex bank will not affect Nigeria’s monetary policies. Alade made this known when she briefed newsmen in Abuja on Friday.
President Goodluck Jonathan had on Thursday suspended the apex bank governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido sanusi, and directed Alade who was a deputy governor, to oversee the affairs of the bank.

Amaechi Summons Emergency NGF Meeting Over Sanusi’s Suspension

Governors in Nigeria are meeting over the suspension of Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi by President Goodluck Jonathan. The suspension has generated many comments and reactions, with questions also asked about the legality of his suspension.
The House of Representatives have called his suspension illegal. The governors will however make their opinion known after an emergency meeting on the issue summoned by chairman of their forum, Rotimi Amaechi.
In a statement Friday by NGF Director- General, Asishana Okauru, the Monday meeting though an emergency one is the third NGF Meeting in 2014 and will be chaired by Governor Amaechi at the Rivers State Governor’s lodge, Asokoro in Abuja at 8pm prompt.

FG Committed To Giving Nigerians 40,000 MW Of Power By 2020



The Federal Government has assured Nigerians its target of generating 40,000 MW of power by year 2020 would be realised, with the expectation of more capacities from Mambilla, Zungeru large hydros, grid power from solar, wind and coal-to-power initiative.
The assurance was given by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Amb. Godknows Igali, while playing host to the team of the body of permanent secretaries in the civil service on peer review mission.

Okonjo-Iweala Denies Resignation Report

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has denied a report that she had tendered a letter of resignation to the president.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, Special Adviser on Media to the Minister, on Friday in Abuja.
“It has come to our attention that a story is circulating online about the purported resignation of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this story is not true. The Coordinating Minister is still in her position,’’ it said.
According to the statement, the minister has assured Nigerians that the Jonathan administration is committed to the continuation of the current economic policies and the maintenance of macroeconomic stability through tight fiscal and monetary policies.[

No Problem With Sanusi’s Decision To Go To Court - Presidency, Denies Giving Directive For His Arrest

The presidency has welcomed the decision of Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to seek legal redress on the constitutionality of his suspension from office as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, by President Goodluck Jonathan.The presidency was reacting to an interview the suspended CBN governor granted CNBC Africa that he would go to court in order to “establish once and for all if the president has the powers to do this [suspend him]”.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Reuben Abati, who made the presidency’s position known yesterday afternoon during an interview with State House correspondents in Abuja, said Sanusi had the right to challenge his suspension.

Jonathan Holds Olubadan, People Of South West In High Esteem – Presidency

The Presidency on Thursday declared that President Goodluck Jonathan holds the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Odulana Odugade, and people of the entire South West in very high esteem. The Presidency was reacting to a statement by the Olubadan-in-Council, which accused President Jonathan of disregarding protocol by passing through Ibadan without stopping by to pay homage to the traditional ruler of the ancient city.

Three years after he was accused of killing Titilayo his banker wife,(by stabbing her all-over with a knife and dagger) Akolade Arowolo has been sentenced to death by hanging.
The trial judge, Justice Lateefa Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court while delivering her judgment today Friday, found Arowolo guilty on a one-count charge of murder. She said "I pronounce the defendant guilty and accordingly sentenced to death,”
