Rick Ross Settles his $2 Million Legal Battle Over Nigerian Concert
In paperwork filed in 2012, the British firm Zons P.R. sued the singer and claimed to have paid Ross $87,500 to promote and perform at the Star Mega Jam, an annual Nigerian concert that draws upwards of 50,000 fans.
Zons alleged that Ross failed to carry out his promo duties when he cancelled, citing “the violent events in Nigeria” as the reason he wouldn’t appear at the December 2011 show.
When the company reportedly tried to get back its deposit, the rapper didn’t return the cash, and Zons was forced to sue.
The company sued him for over $2 million in damages over the cancelled performance.
In new court documents filed on January 30, the case has been dismissed, and Ross and Zons P.R. have come to a settlement over the dispute.
Details of the settlement were not disclosed.

Uche Iwuji’s Husband, Juwon Lawal Confirms Their 14 Month Marriage Is OVER!
In the last few months actress Uche Iwuji has been dogged by allegations that her marriage to business man Juwon Lawal had ended. The couple who tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Lagos on November 16, 2012 claimed all was well in their marriage & it was all the work of “home breakers”. Uche hit back at the claims first in a series of tweets last December & her soon to be ex husband followed suit shortly after when he said to Encomium Magazine;
“Our marriage has crashed? That’s very strange. I am hearing it for the first time. Anyway, I don’t even have time to be reading all those rubbish. I don’t have time for Tales by Moonlight. Maybe when I’m less busy I will invite you for a chat”Now exactly two months after & Juwon Lawal admits they both lied when he hit back at claims about his marriage crashing. The business man has now decided to officially announce the end of their 14 month marriage which produced a child.

This should serve as the official statement confirming the end to the marriage formalized on Friday, November 16th 2012 between the CEO of ABD Fuels Plc, Mr. Juwon Rasak Lawal and actress Uche Iwuji.
Already, the court processes are on to give a legal seal to the separation.
Mr. Lawal was in Europe on a business tour when the story first broke through the media. This was the reason why he could not react appropriately to it, plus the fact that he felt the event could be redeemed.
Although, he would not want to talk about the reasons for the separation, Mr. Lawal is not married anymore to Miss Iwuji. And he will like to treat his estranged wife’s case as “once a friend, always a friend”.

I'll Kill Myself on February 14 if Oshiomhole Don't Pay My Money ––57years Old Man Cries Out
This 57-year old man, identified as Denis Amayo, on Tuesday told
journalists in Benin City, the capital of Edo State that he will commit
suicide on lovers day, 14th of February, 2014, if Governor Adams
Oshiomhole fail to pay his pension arrears before then.
What does he want to kill himself because of money? Mr Denis said: "I am my father’s first born. It will be immoral of me to task my younger ones to bring money for [my father's] burial while I cannot bring anything for the burial. I need my eight months pension arrears to bury my father."
Denis said he served Edo State government for 35 years in the Ministry
of Agriculture and retired in August last year. He lost his father
recently and needs the money to bury him, as his corpse is still in the
mortuary.
Mr Denis insisted that if Governor Oshiomhole refuse to pay him his entitlement, he will sacrifice his life to raise awareness for other pensioners owed several months of unpaid pensions.

Nigerian Olympic Athlete, Ambrose, Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing Married Woman
Former Nigerian Olympian, Ambrose Monye (left), was on Wednesday been sentenced to life in prison by a South Africa court for the murder of a 26yrs old woman, Channelle Henning (middle).
Ambrose, who took part in Souelle Olympic in 1988, was said to have killed Channelle as she drove out after dropping her young son at a Montessori Preschool in East Pretoria South Africa on November 8th, 2011.

Emergency officials told Punch correspondent that Sunday, his wife, Sade, and Lola were on their way from a vigil in a Toyota 4Runner Sport Utility Vehicle with number plate, DN866JJJ, when the vehicle somersaulted several times.
Sade was said to have fallen out of the vehicle in the process, while the other two occupants fell into the river and drowned.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the driver, who was a trader in Lekki, lost control shortly before the accident.

Nelson Mandela's ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has been left out of his will, it has been revealed.
The former South African president has divided up his £2.5million estate
between family members, staff and the ruling African National Congress.
However, he has chosen to give nothing to Ms Madikizela-Mandela - his
second wife, with whom he had two daughters, Zenani and Zindziswa.
Meanwhile, his third wife, Graca Machel, has been named as the main

Nigerian Student Found Dead in His Room
A part-time student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, Timilehin Ayobami Ogundare has been found dead in his room at Ilupeju area, Baasala, Asero, Abeokuta, Ogun State in western Nigeria.
He was believed to have committed suicide by hanging himself. P.M.NEWS also gathered that the deceased was a computer operator with a firm, Blueprint Music Studio in Abeokuta, before his death.
A family source who did not want his name in print disclosed that the deceased tried to kill himself last year but was stopped by some people.
The relation revealed that the deceased was arrested by some security guards and handed over to men of the state vigilance service when he attempted to jump into River Ogun. He was later released.

The fire which started at about 6am this Monday morning razed Properties and goods worth Millions. Men from the University fire Service as well as there counterpart from the Oyo State Fire Service were later able to keep the fire under control. The cause of the outbreak is still unknown.
Man With 107 ATM Cards Arrested By NDLEA At Murtala Mohammed Airport
According to Punch, The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said on Saturday it arrested this man with 107 automated teller machine cards in his possession at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos.
A statement by NDLEA said its officers discovered the ATM cards in the man’s luggage during the outward screening of passengers travelling to Istanbul, Turkey aboard Turkish Airlines. It was discovered that the man also had two international passports bearing photographs of him, but with different names. The NDLEA Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the man, aged 36, was apprehended for dual-identity and also because of the discovered cards.Community Sues Federal Government N100 Billion For Demolition Of Properties
The lawyer representing the community, Barrister Declan Kemdirim, made this known while addressing journalists at the site of the demolished community today.
Barrister Kemdirim said the demolition was carried out at 3am on the evening of 16th of December 2013, by men of the Nigeria Police Force, who claimed to be the new owners of the land.
"The Baale of Atipo Rome and Mowo-Morogbo were served a notice of eviction on the evening of 14th December 2013. That notice stated they were encroaching on the land of the Nigeria Police Force located, at Agemowo/Agelado Mowo Badagry, and the eviction letter was signed by one Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) F.G. Ogundeji.

House Committee Rejects Okonjo-Iweala’s Answers To 50 Questions, Plus The Full 50 Questions List

The lawmakers’ response is contained in a letter addressed to the minister, dated January 31, and signed by the Chairman of the Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
The committee also said it observed several lacuna in the minister’s response.
“The Committee further noted glaring missing gaps in the responses, absence of supporting proofs to assertions and lack of relevant documents to back up the presentation as is the practice in any legislative oversight or investigation.
“Many data and statistics provided were inconsistent with subsequent information provided while answering other questions,” the committee said.
The 50 questions
The 50 questions were issued to the finance minister on December 19, 2013 by the committee. The questions bordered on the state of Nigeria’s economy.
Though the committee gave her two weeks to respond, the minister sent her response and made it public on January 16. The presentation of the questions to the minister had sparked controversy between her and the House committee on December 19, 2013, when she appeared before the lawmakers.
