Nigerian Olympic Athlete, Ambrose, Sentenced to Life in Prison for Killing Married Woman

I find it hard to understand how a someone will comfortably KILL a fellow human being. It's crazy!
Former Nigerian Olympian, Ambrose Monye (left), was on Wednesday been sentenced to life in prison by a South Africa court for the murder of a 26yrs old woman, Channelle Henning (middle).

Ambrose, who took part in Souelle Olympic in 1988, was said to have killed Channelle as she drove out after dropping her young son at a Montessori Preschool in East Pretoria South Africa on November 8th, 2011.

A middle-aged man, Mr. Sunday Megba, and his 11-year-old daughter, Lola, died on Tuesday after their vehicle plunged into a river at the Ikota end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos
Emergency officials told Punch correspondent that Sunday, his wife, Sade, and Lola were on their way from a vigil in a Toyota 4Runner Sport Utility Vehicle with number plate, DN866JJJ, when the vehicle somersaulted several times.


Sade was said to have fallen out of the vehicle in the process, while the other two occupants fell into the river and drowned.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the driver, who was a trader in Lekki, lost control shortly before the accident.

Nigerian Student Found Dead in His Room


A part-time student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, Timilehin Ayobami Ogundare has been found dead in his room at Ilupeju area, Baasala, Asero, Abeokuta, Ogun State in western Nigeria.
He was believed to have committed suicide by hanging himself. P.M.NEWS also gathered that the deceased was a computer operator with a firm, Blueprint Music Studio in Abeokuta, before his death.
A family source who did not want his name in print disclosed that the deceased tried to kill himself last year but was stopped by some people.
The relation revealed that the deceased was arrested by some security guards and handed over to men of the state vigilance service when he attempted to jump into River Ogun. He was later released.

There was a fire Outbreak this Morning at University Of Ibadan Kuti Hall, the Male hall of residence witnessed this nnfortunate disaster just about 6 months after another Hall, Tedder Hall witnessed such mid last year. The fire which started at about 6am this Monday morning razed Properties and goods worth Millions. Men from the University fire Service as well as there counterpart from the Oyo State Fire Service were later able to keep the fire under control. The cause of the outbreak is still unknown. 

Man With 107 ATM Cards Arrested By NDLEA At Murtala Mohammed Airport


 

According to Punch, The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said on Saturday it arrested this man with 107 automated teller machine cards in his possession at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos.

A statement by NDLEA said its officers discovered the ATM cards in the man’s luggage during the outward screening of passengers travelling to Istanbul, Turkey aboard Turkish Airlines. It was discovered that the man also had two international passports bearing photographs of him, but with different names. The NDLEA Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the man, aged 36, was apprehended for dual-identity and also because of the discovered cards.

Community Sues Federal Government N100 Billion For Demolition Of Properties



Atinporomeh community located along the Badagry expressway has sued the Federal Government #100 billion for demolishing over 1,500 houses in the community.
 The lawyer representing the community, Barrister Declan Kemdirim, made this known while addressing journalists at the site of the demolished community today.

Barrister Kemdirim said the demolition was carried out at 3am on the evening of 16th of December 2013, by men of the Nigeria Police Force, who claimed to be the new owners of the land.

"The Baale of Atipo Rome and Mowo-Morogbo were served a notice of eviction on the evening of 14th December 2013. That notice stated they were encroaching on the land of the Nigeria Police Force located, at Agemowo/Agelado Mowo Badagry, and the eviction letter was signed by one Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) F.G. Ogundeji.
