Gunmen Abduct President Jonathan’s 'Father' In Bayelsa

 
These are not the best of times for President Goodluck Jonathan as heavily-armed gunmen have abducted his adopted father, Chief Inengite Nitabai, in their home village of Otuoke, in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
There are two sides to the story that led to his kidnap but sources on ground said Chief Inengite was trying to re-possess a piece of land he had already sold to somebody several years ago, when the gunmen stormed the area and snatched him. 65yrs old Chief Inengite is still with thee kidnappers as at the time of reporting. A security source said that the vehicle was later recovered at the Onuegbum community waterfront where it had been abandoned.

Although the motive of the kidnappers has not been ascertained, sources say it be connected to the land. The incident has led to heavy security presence in the area, which is host to the Federal University, Otuoke. 

Confirming the incident, Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, said one person had been arrested. "Investigation is in progress to unmask the kidnappers and rescue the victim," he said.
