Here are three things we took home from the Fire Of Zamani Concert which held on Saturday, 23rd October, 2013, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
#1. Ice Prince Loves Kids
Whoever could believe that Ice Prince, with all his bluster and bluff is actually a softie on the inside who has a thing for kids. He has a son called Jamal, and always takes to Instagram to share pictures of the young man. But it’s not just ‘good ol’ fatherly love and all’, it’s way more than that.
On the Fire Of Zamani Concert, Ice Prince had 3 different kids join him on stage. The first of them performed alongside him as he gave a rendition of ‘Gimme Dat’. The next one, a cute little mixed-race kid, was too shy to perform on stage. The kid rejected the offer to perform alongside the ‘rap maestro’ of Nigeria. Guess that’s why he’s a kid.
The third to join him on stage was his son, the pretty Jamal, who has plenty of Instagram fans. Jamal didn’t perform either, the toddler needed his sleep, and we can’t hold that against him either. Because it’s past his bed time.
#2. Ice Prince Is An Honest Man
When Ice Prince earlier in the year released a hit single, ‘I Swear’, which had international rapper, French Montana on it, many called Ice Prince a genius. He received a lot of credits for the song, shot and released a video of it, and boom! He was in the clouds.
But not many of you know he was just a part player in the creation of that song. ‘I Swear’ was also EME’s Shaydee’s song. The singer was in the studio with Ice Prince, they made the song together, and wrapped it up. It appears French Montana fell in love with the track, and Shaydee decided to give it up to them both.
How did we know this? Because Ice Prince was honest enough to disclose this during his concert. He brought Shaydee onto the stage, performed with him, and told the story. How admirable.
#3. Humility Is Ice Prince’s Inner Strength
Countless times we’ve seen the case of an artiste who’ve attained superstar status, begin to bite his helpers, simply because he’s found a way to convince himself that he’s bigger than they are.
Ice Prince is not like that.
The singer spent a major part of the concert confessing the names of his helpers. Shaydee, M.I, Sunny Neji, Don Jazzy, Modenine, and a raft of others received a number of ‘gratitude messages’. Ice Prince even got that told to him by M.I Abaga who looked him in the eye, and called him the ‘humblest man he ever has known.
…and just in case this helps; Ice Prince went down on his knees to plead for forgiveness for the absence of Wale. That counts, doesn’t it?
